Using Boost Converter Topology,& optimized single direction current, this product is used to charge a 48v battery.

It is connected to the windmill and the battery.

The Optimizer does three things:

1)  Steps up the voltage.

2) Charges the battery.

3) Optimizes the power.

1)  Steps up the voltage. IE when using a 48v battery and a maximum voltage during strong winds yielding 20v from the windmill, the windmill optimizer steps up and charges the battery. And during low winds the power is low and optimized. At low winds the voltage might be as low as 5v.

2)  Charges the battery. If the battery is a 48vdc lead acid, the charging voltage of 57.6vdc is set with the blue pot shown below. You can set the pot anywhere from 51.5 to 60.5vdc. If the pot is set at 57.6vdc and the voltage is met, the unit shuts down and no current flows. When the temperature compensated voltage of the battery is reached, the blue pot sets this, the unit shuts off. No battery power is used to power the windmill optimizer. All the power comes from the windmill.

3)  Optimizes the power. The power is calculated every 1/2 second. The pulse width modulation is changed, if needed, every 1/2 second. At low powers, when the wind is weak, even one watt is transferred to the battery. One watt is only .02 amps at 50vdc. At higher powers, like 500 watts, 10.0 amps is charging a 48v battery at 50vdc.
